When you come to the beach, there are always the must have foods - mainly, seafood. Dining along the Emerald Coast is not different, from the freshly caught Red Snapper and Grouper to the Apalachicola, Oysters it can't be beat. If you have an open mind, a bib and an empty (or expandable) belly and the world is your.... oyster - metaphorically speaking.
Here are my top eats along 30A:
Pizza - This is hard because I LOVE LOVE LOVE pizza.. Here are my top two:
Amici's at 30Avenue - This pizza will change your life. Hands down my favorite pizza place here. Their funghi pizza is melt in your mouth delicious. Ingredients include: (mushroom) cremini, shiitake, king oyster, fancy mushrooms, fontina, and white truffle oil. Amazing service, delicious food, coffee and dessert.. yes please.
Pizza by the Sea: a local favorite with locations at Watercolor & Gulf Place, its a must have for pizza lovers. Grab a slice or take a pie to go, you will get wonderful service, and their oversized cookies are so good!!
Thai Elephant is a hidden gem along highway 98 just north of 30A. You would drive by it and be distracted by the large Mexican restaurant next door, but you have to go taste their food. Sticky rice, curry, but my favorite is the pra ram long song... that peanut sauce? Delicious! The food is always hot, the service is always spot on.
Great Southern: Nestled in Seaside, there is always a wait for this local favorite. There is nothing like a bloody pig and their cheese grits to get the day going. Everything they make is a winner, their hushpuppies can be a entree unto themselves. The bar is always open and the food is always good. Go, wait, its worth it.
Johnny McTighes Irish Pub: Everyone says they have a good burger... but my top pick is a little pub on the west end of 30A. Exceptional burgers cooked to order, the atmosphere probably makes it taste even better. Theres a game room for the kids to keep them occupied.
P.S. try the wings too... so good
This was hard for me... I love a good fish taco, and have had a few bad ones around here. When the service is good, La Playa at Gulf Place has best fish tacos around in my opinion, but sometimes the service is... lacking due to the seasonality of our business here, but over all its worth it.
Red Bar: Their Pane Chicken is hands down the best food I've put in my mouth unless I'm making it myself (hey, what can I say, I'm a great cook) -- the capers, the lemon the delicious potatoes, the perfectly cooked chicken.. it just doesn't get better than this. You can't go wrong.
Christians Italian Restaurant: The key to the best experience is to go on a Friday evening (make a reservation) to include piano music floating through the air, this family owned and run restaurant is perfect in every way. Their lasagna is one for the books. It is the best lasagna I have ever tasted --- ever.. like ... EVER. I tell my family to order their own, cuz there will be no sharing. The last time we went they had homemade coconut cream pie that would have made any grandmother proud. You want this lasagna in your life.
This is not even the tip of the iceberg, there will be more posts... so eat, play and love... and call me when you're ready to buy a house here so the restaurants are closer. 850.499.0454
